Give In by The Snow Symphony (NBT)

21:05

We're hitting the studio tomorrow for the first time recording one of our song titled "Give In".
What we decided to do is to record our album live. Meaning, we're there together in the studio, and we're recording one song from start to finish. I wanted a raw feel, not too polish, something real and not too tweaked. I think its going to be exciting. We'll be recording with Savy's friend, Jedi (pronounced: Jay-Dee) from Pop Shuv it at Studio 21:05 at 7pm tonight. Its 6 in the morning now, i think i need some sleep. Will post up pictures in a few days. :)

Give In
This is wrong and you know it,
Hanging on to our mistakes
Burning up those pictures we took
When we were happy on our holiday.
Its never ending,
It keeps going on.
Wont you, just give it up
Just give it up, its all im asking
From you, just give it in
just give it in, and stop crying
Its too late to go back
Its too late, to lose yourself
again and again.

"Im sorry for the hurt we caused each other. But it was never right from the start. Good Night."

My Life. My Love. My Magic.

A christmas note, from my Mom.

This is one of the reason why i keep on doing what i do best.

And will always do it with full of honesty.

My music. My Life. My love. My Magic.

Dear Nick,

Dare to dream for dreamers see tomorrow. Dare to make a wish for wishing makes way for hope, and hope is what keeps us alive. Dare to reach out for the things no one else can see. Be unafraid to see what others cannot. Believe in your heart and in your own goodness, for in doing so, others will believe them too. Believe in magic, because life is full of it. Trust in those who love you for they will always do their best for you. But most of all believe in yourself because within you lie all the magic, the hope, the love, and the dreams of tomorrow.

May your Christmas dreams come true...

I love you,

Mom.

Another One On an Island

Maybe

Its time, to fall asleep again.
To see, you in my head again
You’re smilling away deep down inside out
Im happy beside you…
Maybe its nothing
Maybe im just dreaming
Its all can do to find
Peace in these thoughts of mine.

I spent my last night at Penang on a beach at a beach bar. Its this place called the Sunset Bistro at Feringgi. Where the drinks are cheap and all i wanted to do was sit there and watch the sky go dark. It was amazing.

Time to go back to KL. With a new song.

Ill be playing on my own on the 23rd of December at the new Urbanattic at Capsquare and hopefully The Snow Symphony on the 24th December, same place. See you there :)

Day 2

You know how sometimes, when you're out at a place and a girl walk past you, you guys had eye contact and she blew you away. Then you turn around and she's gone. You'll then wonder whether or not you should have done something, and as you wonder you see the girl again. Still you decided not to do anything about it. So all you walk away with is all the what ifs. But then again, its really not such a big deal. Its just a few seconds of a moment that most probably you'll never have with the same person again. But who knows.

Anyway, here's a picture i took earlier today when we were on the way across the Penang bridge and while we were driving around looking for this famous laksa and cendul (thats how they spell it) place. So i snapped a few pictures:

I think we had so much to eat today we can stay "unhungry" for a week. But i doubt it. We're gonna wake up tomorrow afternoon and eat somemore. But today was pretty chill out. Went to this place called Gurney. Crazy Lina did some shopping, Rohnie and I just went to a lil pub to have a drink. Its like this Penang "cool" hang out place for high school and college kids. Segafredo i think its called. To me, its like an alcohol mamak. Nice place to have a beer with the ocean breeze cooling you down.

The Sega-Menu

The Sega Outcome

Vision blurred, Heineken overload.

There was something funny on the menu. Ciok for Choc. I find it extemely cina.

With so many things to do and so many things to eat i thought i would never have a chance to digest everything and write a song. But i did today. As i was sitting near the beach outside Gurney, something happened and i knew straight away what i wanted to write about. Its not really completed yet but its getting there. Even Rohnie and i jammed abit earlier.

Maybe, its just the same.

Like how a wind mill spins.

Maybe things just wouldnt change.

Im back at where Ive been.

Before.

This song is basically about how some things just wouldnt change no matter what you do or how hard to try to do it. It's about letting things be. (Like the story in the first paragraph of this post) Its just the chorus i wrote down.
If its meant to happen, i believe the flow of nature will eventually bring it to you. Something like that. It applies to many things i guess. Everything influence everything.

Tomorrow's back to Feringgi. We'll see what happens.

Day 1: The Miss in the Missing.

It was about a 4 hour car ride, and i was at the backseat boiling with so much inspiration to write songs (must be the sunset and all the empty grassy fields). But because of the limited space in Rohnie's car, the only thing i could play with was my camera. So i took a few pictures.

Of myself. Camwhore 101.

The Cellist/ Driver/Tour Guide/ Penang Boy.

(With his Walt Disney Mickey Mouse sunglasses)

As Sinchan is peeking through the rear mirror, i was thinking to myself. How will it be like to go back to the place where i left a note on the wall a year ago and see if it's still strongly sticking on the wall. I doubt it tho. But still i think it'll be something to go back and see. To remember the conversations we had at that place and the promises we made with each other, which in the end meant nothing at all. Well among other stuff going through my mind this is one of them.

There is one more thing i just couldnt stop thinking about. But it felt so comfortable to obsessed myself with that thought. Bittersweet. The miss in the missing. Funny how i got away from KL to get away from KL. But a day away from it and i kinda miss it. Not to say Penang and mainland is that bad. Today was nothing but good sinful food and music. Oh and crazy Lina.

She might not look like it in the picture, but she's a freak! Fun freak.

She tagged along for the trip. Helena Foo the director and Savy the Violinist couldnt make it. So. Here I am, blogging for the first time about the trip. You guys must be wondering, what this has anything to do with music and The Snow Symphony. I dunno. Maybe there's a song somewhere within these five days that im away road tripping. Before i end this post, i just wanna show you guys a picture i took earlier. Give you a lil feel of my trip and what i see. I think im gonna go fool around on my 12 string now. Good day. :)

Savy, this one is for you, since you cant make it this time.

(I would post up all the good food pictures but dowan la, kesian you :D )

Wait. This one just got in. I just had to post this one up.

Rohnie in his feminine side.

Either that or his great attempt to reanact The Joker. Ha!

No Black Tie

Since early this year, when i started coming out into the scene, ive always wonder how it feels like to play at No Black Tie. I figured it must be good because of the acoustics in the place. So after almost a year of giiging around Savy and I finally got the chance to play a 30 min set at NBT as The Snow Symphony.

I can tell you, nothing feels better than to play with a great sound and a great audience who actually listens to you and your music. Although my cough didnt allow me to hit certain notes and my voice was pretty husky throughout the night, it didnt matter, i felt the songs and i sang with my heart out anyway. The energy on stage was great and we had an awesome time. Which i havent had quite awhile.

Finally, i get to hear my own music properly. Our own music.
When u perform at Alor, you gota end it with Alor's beef noodles.
Such a good night.

Im going off to Penang for about five days tomorrow with Rohnie the Cellist. Sort of like a road trip. Savy will be in town, poor girl's busy with things. Im bringing my guitar with me. I left something in Feringgi and i think im going to bring it back with a few new songs.

When i get back there'll be a gig at Urbanattic on the 24th. Christmas Eve. Then when im done Ill be on the decks till countdown. Since its Christmas Eve, i dont really want to keep my band mates busy with gigs, so whoever who's free on that night, will be playing with me i guess.

Ill post up some NBT pictures when Savy's free to upload them.

Okay. I guess we'll see you all on the 24th whoever's coming :) TC

Savy: I never know how to do all these things like blogs, myspace and stuff. You know ar.. even my facebook people do for me wan… (laugh)

Nick: Its okay... I do for you till you upgrade computer skills. You’re not very tech “Savy” are you.

Nick & Savy: (laugh)

Savy:
Ok Ok. My next new year resolution will be to start my own myspace account. You know… I like to showcase my commercial stuff.

Nick: What commercial stuff?

Savy: Stuff that i compose on my own la...

Nick: I see.

Savy: Yeap.

Nick: So... uh... how was it like playing with me for the first time? Cheh… Im so full of myself.

Savy: Aiyah. I cant really remember when I first played with you. All I know is that it was all so random. I didnt know you... and I didnt even know your songs! We just like, simply went through it right before we performed. And what… we had to play three sets!

Nick: Yea!

Savy: (interrupt) I can remember is your emo hair.

Nick: (laugh) Yea.... The hair. Classic! Eh so anything else you wanna say in the blog? I also not very good at blogging actually.

Savy: Well… yer.. cannot think la! Rohnie keeps playing Christmas songs in the background.

(Have Yourself a merry little christmas playing in the background then it stopped)

Rohnie: Waaat?! (continue playing piano)

Nick: Oh there he goes again…. (Rohnie continues playing) For those out there who don’t know who Rohnie is, he’s our new addition to the duo from the band Milliz, he’s sessioning with us, playing the cello. We’re suppose to rehearse a few songs but all of us are scattered all over doing our own thing. Its raining outside la wut to do. lazy.... So, excited to make the album?

Savy: Yes… but….

Nick: But what?

Savy: Nervous la…. Must practice a lot. I really need to get comfortable when it comes to recording. Have to dig out all my “fingering” exercise book and practice. (laugh)

Nick: (laugh) I don’t know what to say.

Savy: (sings) Have yourself a merry little Christmas…. Oh no wait, its White Christmas. (picks up Violin and jams with Rohnie on the piano)

Nick: Ahh…. The Christmas spirit…. Alright guys… till next time. To catch us live, you can come to No Black Tie on the 17th of This Month!

End.
